Friday night (2/25) the GEO is hosting a dinner/meeting to decide what the GEO should focus on in the coming year. Besides long term goals, we will also discuss why we have a union and how graduate students/employees can use GEO as a resource for grad advocacy. It starts at 6:30pm at the University YMCA.
The following day, Saturday (2/26) there will be a lunch/retreat to discuss implementation of the goals outlined on Friday and how to practice self-advocacy. Also, grads from GEO, University of Illinois, Chicago and a representative from our affiliate, the American Federation of Teachers (AFT),will be joining the Urbana-Champaign folks in discussions of how to support grad union solidarity (since the Big Ten grads face many of the same issues). Happy Hour at Esquire in Champaign will follow at 5pm (with the first round on GEO)!
