All GEO members, family, and friends are welcome to join us and our union brothers and sisters in this annual celebration of the importance of our work! Children who dress as a clown for the parade will receive a free gift.
The parade ends in Prairie Park, 1202 E. Washington, Urbana, and will be followed by a Picnic. There will be free food and beer/sodas for all who come, as well as games for kids.

The GEO LGBTQA Caucus Hosts:
“Live Nude Girls Unite!”
MOVIE and FREE FOOD followed by Cosmic Bowling at the Union
Thursday, 30 August, 7pm
Wahl Room, University YMCA, 1001 S. Wright Street
About the film:
This film follows the organizing efforts of strippers to form a union with the help of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).
After our April 19th General Membership Meeting, several members expressed interest in seeing the “State of the Union” address given by then co-president, Andrew O’Baoill, posted to the web. So, here it is…
Tuesday 1st May, 5:30pm, at the YMCA.
Elections will be held for 2 Co-Chairs and up to 3 Liaisons to the Coordinating Committee. If you are interested in any of these positions, please contact the office or Martin Kowalewsky.
Afterwards, we’ll head down to Bar Louie, 510 E. John St, Champaign, to celebrate May Day and the end of the semester! Food provided by the GEO. All GEO members are welcome!!
Over the last few weeks, members of the GEO have a formed a caucus to specifically address the concerns of the LGBTQ grads on campus. Find out more about this group and learn how to form your own caucus by selecting “form a caucus” on the left column of this page, under “take action”.
The next LGBTQA Caucus event is the Dance Party, scheduled to rock the IMC Saturday, 28 April, at 8pm, just after the May Day Celebration
We address the need for a safe, non-discriminatory space for queer grads and their allies employed by the University, providing them with:
~ a forum to address LGBTQA issues related to health care, partner benefits, and other relevant concerns.
~ a link between LGBTQA grads and the Union and/or the University.
~ an opportunity to reach out and help others with similar concerns.
In this way, we hope to reach out to those who may not otherwise be able to bring these issues to the attention of the GEO at large.
To help us provide this space, contact:
Jaime Brunton
Brandy Trygstad
Our meetings are generally held at the Tuesday night Rainbow Coffeehouse, in the Wesley Foundation (corner of Goodwin and Green), starting at 6:30pm.
All interested individuals are invited to attend caucus meetings!
