This is a great statement.

First, in response to the trend of the administrators receiving very substantial raises while the people who do the actual work are being asked to sacrifice, a friend said, "I keep asking myself if the CEO is performing their job at such a significantly better level than a random person would be doing? Or better than I could be doing that job? How can that salary be justified?"

Second, the trend toward privatizing to "save money" is a false economy. "A false economy refers to an action which saves money at the beginning but which, over a longer period of time, results in more money being wasted than being saved."

And third, a point about the trend toward investing in destruction rather than production. The United States federal government is considering increasing credit to continue wars that are destructive and not producing anything that will help us pay off the deep financial debt hole destruction creates. We should be investing in work, education, and productive efforts. Instead, we send borrowed money, huge amounts of resources like jet fuel and hot dogs to troops, and the worst loss of all -- our young people -- to war.

Luther Olsen's last name is spelled with an "e," not the second "o."

I am disappointed to hear that graduate tuition waivers are under attack again. I urge the administration to reconsider! If it were not for the tuition waivers that we receive, many of us would not be attending this university. Tuition waivers have to stay!
