Graduate assistants do important, indispensable work for the University by teaching, researching, and performing many other duties that help make the University of Illinois one of the top institutions of higher education in the country. During the 2002-2003 school year, Teaching Assistants and Graduate Assistants voted to have the GEO be their union — a right they had been denied for over 7 years.
