Solidarity with NTFC
Who is NTFC?
The Non-Tenure Faculty Coalition started as part of the Campus Faculty Association in 2011. By 2014, it had become a separate union for non-tenure faculty. It was officially recognized by the state of Illinois on July 8, 2014. In October 2014, the NTFC began bargaining their first contract. Their homepage can be found here.
NTFC Strike – April 19-20, 2016
After bargaining for a year and a half, the NTFC and the University called in a federal mediator. Unfortunately, after a couple of meetings with the federal mediator, the NTFC and the University were unable to come to an agreement. The NTFC voted to strike in April 2016. On April 19 and 20, 2016, the NTFC struck. GEO provided support for the NTFC strike by picketing with NTFC, moving classes out of the affected building, and providing other forms of solidarity.
This webpage was created to communicate with members about the strike.
Strike and Rally Videos
On April 19 and 20, NTFC and their allies picketed from 8 am to 4:30 at the English Building. There was a rally at noon both days at the English Building. At 4:30 on both days, the picketers walked to the Swanlund Administration Building and held a rally.
